![]() ![]() ![]() "And now the shining light of the sun was dipped in the Okeanos trailing black night across the grain-giving land." "Now Helios of a new day struck on the ploughlands, rising out of the quiet water and the deep stream of Okeanos to climb the sky." "The star of the waning summer who beyond all stars rises bathed in Okeanos (the Ocean-Stream) to glitter with brilliance." This infinite ocean was also where the heavenly bodies rose from and set into, according to Homer: The ocean might seem like an odd choice for a god of the cosmos, until you consider pre-classic era Greeks believed in a flat earth floating in an infinite ocean (personified by Oceanus). I think the primordial Titan Oceanus qualifies. Some accounts tell of the Titan Queen Eurynome (commonly mistaken with Zeus' third bride, and some accounts have them as one and the same person who was an Oceanid).Īnd of course there is also Ouranos, who is well known as the father of Kronos and the rest of the Titans, and he was depicted as the night sky that hung over the earth, the lover and husband of Gaia. There will be Chaos, which was accepted as the "oblivion" or the unknown, and the first being to give birth to all others. Going back the furthest you can in Greek mythology: For instance, some accounts that I've read in the past read that Zeus became King of the Gods only after he had drawn the lot for the sky, as opposed to either of his brothers (this can also be contested that he became King due to the fact that he was the one who overthrew his father and had to rescue his siblings, which is the most widely accepted version I've ever come across). Given that these are ancient cultures / mythologies we're discussing, it stands to point that perhaps they would have seen the two as synonymous, which was why historically the sky gods were said to be most powerful. ![]() There are multiple Ancient Artifacts with their primary use currently being to simply sell them at the Science Outpost for a quick payout of Essence, etc. This depends entirely on your stance of if you're asking for a sky god or if you'd prefer only "outer space", so to speak. Wrapped Corpses appear to be an early prototype item for the upcoming Research feature in FU, however this is not yet implemented and will be a long time coming, so for now they're just a macabre novelty The Mysterious Ball is a consumable buff item that is actually pretty good, but can't be produced in large enough numbers to be sustainable, so it's currently just a fun noveltyįecal Matter, truthfully, I store and forget about, but it appears to be a vestigal leftover from a much earlier version of FU, considering the game also has Poop as a distinct item which is much more useful obsolete items from early FU were never removed to prevent inventory crashes, and instead can be extracted into their up-to-date versions in an extractor - try that Sell the Unknown Artifact to max out your pixels presumably if you work out a way to extract the pixels into smaller stacks and get around the pixel cap you can make even more money out of the thing as it sells for well over 10 million pixels Unknown Gene has at least one use in a crafting recipe you acquire after beating the final FU main mission the first time, and is also used in some blueprint recipes that you may never actually unlock because the drop rate is so low for them As to your actual question, in order, with the minimum of spoilers possible: The super short version is that anything to do with Elder research is deliberately obnoxious to work out what you use it for in a reflection of what it's a giant reference to. So, does anyone have any idea? Or all they all just trash? Thanks in advance for any info! Ancient Artifact: From the precursor dungeon. Not that valuable, and its rare enough that I'm not really willing to just try to extract it. Wrapped/putrid corpse: Gotten mostly from elder dungeons. Fecal matter: probably just junk, but hey, they put a food recipe made by junk matter so who knows what use it might have. Mysterious ball: Seems to provide random effects? Not clear what its useful for. Its worth an absurd amount of pixels (like 124 million) but I was wondering if it had any other uses? Unknown Artifact: Obtained in science outpost mission from the guy who wanted to build neutronium/anti-neutronium bomb. Its not marked on the wiki and cant find any recipe that requires it. I've no doubt some are leftovers from previous versions, or just random stuff, but I thought I would check here in case I'm missing something. ![]() So I'm about 100 hours into frackin universe, and I've discovered a few items that I simply cant find any reliable info on. ![]()
